I ended up doing a lot more exploring then I did fishing, but overall it was a great trip
1. don't go on sat and expect to find a camping spot for a 24ft trailer. There was abit of room at Spring Creek Campground at Frenchman Lake.
2. Yes, lightning does start fires and it's reallly exciting to see a bolt come straight down and then see a fire start when you are a couple hundred yds away.
3. Packer Lake is full of very willing brown trout. One fish I caught was in full spawning colors and just as pretty as can be. A second cool thing was watching an osprey take a small trout and then watching another osprey try and take it away from him. They put on a very cool show for a minute or so.
4. Upper salmon lake was tougher as I only had 6 hits and no fish even on. The fish were either small or short taking. Very deep lake and I didn't see any weed beds. I didn't fish the whole lake.
5. Snag lake was looked at but not fished. The water looked "funny" and two dead fish were floating by the campground. It was a bit,,ahh,,off color to the green side as opposed to very clear.
6. Gold Lake is a big lake and has sizable white caps on a windy day.
that's my repot

ps: thanks again to littlehoover and Phil for the advice.
